Understanding Your Results
The color-coded bar below your result shows where you fall on the BMI scale. Green indicates normal weight, yellow indicates underweight, orange indicates overweight, and red indicates obesity. Each category has different health implications worth discussing with your doctor.
BMI Categories Explained
The World Health Organization classifies adult BMI into four main categories. Underweight (below 18.5) may indicate malnutrition or underlying health issues. Normal weight (18.5 to 24.9) is associated with the lowest health risks. Overweight (25 to 29.9) carries increased risk for certain conditions. Obese (30 and above) is associated with significantly higher health risks.
Limitations of BMI
BMI is a useful screening tool but has limitations. It does not account for muscle mass, bone density, age, sex, or ethnicity. A bodybuilder might have a "overweight" BMI despite having very low body fat. For a more complete picture, consider combining BMI with waist circumference measurements or body fat percentage testing.
